Oil transportation lines in Basra Governorate between reality and challenges / geographical

Abstract

Oil and petroleum products transportation lines are considered as` an important vital artery in Basra governorate, for their contribution to reviving the economic process, by attracting manpower as well as providing oil products. This research aims to study the reality of the oil transportation lines in the province and the challenges they face, using the geographical analysis of the region and by identifying the most important natural and human factors that contributed to affecting the oil transportation lines, as well as revealing the most important problems and challenges facing these lines by studying environmental, human and security problems. This study included three sections, and the introduction, the first topic was devoted to addressing the concept of pipelines and their importance, classification and characteristics, while the second topic focused on the factors affecting the oil transportation lines in Basra Governorate, and the last topic dealt with the problems facing the oil transportation lines in Basra Governorate, in addition to the conclusions and recommendations. The objectives of the research were as follows:-1- Highlighting the most important pipelines and oil products transportation projects in Basra Governorate and trying to track the geographical path of each of these projects, starting from the shipping port to the export port.2- Knowing the cost required to complete each of these projects, as well as the quantity transferred and the amount of the customs tariff that is calculated in each project in connection with determining the economic feasibility of the projects.3- To highlight the role played by geographical factors in their impact on the paths of oil pipelines in Basra Governorate.
